Mohs Micrographic Surgery
Mohs Micrographic Surgery is a specialized surgical technique used to remove and cure skin cancer in cosmetically or functionally sensitive areas. Mohs micrographic surgery allows for removal of the entire skin cancer while preserving the healthy and normal surrounding skin. The procedure allows for the highest cure rate, the lowest rate of recurrence, and because we are only removing cancerous tissue, it allows for the smallest amount of scarring.By using the microscope, we are able to confirm complete removal of cancerous tissue while the patient waits in the office. Once the cancer is completely excised, Dr. Brown or Dr. Haimovic will discuss repair options which may include suturing the wound together or allowing it to heal on its own. We recommend having a consultation for evaluation prior to scheduling your Mohs surgery.
